We perform a complete examination of the structures and function of the eyes. This often requires special drops to be used to relax the normal constriction of the pupil (which would prevent proper examination of the internal structures of the eyes.
Occasionally stronger drops will be used (especially with young children) that not only relax the pupil but also relax the internal focusing system of the eye. This allows us to determine the appropriate distance and/or reading prescription for the patient.
